Sunday we went with my dad, @hicknews, do "The City." Of course we mean Silver Dollar City. It is one of my dad's favorite places in the world and it was the last day of World Fest, so off we went to see the Chinese Monks (acrobats). It wasn't supposed to rain all day long, but in true Missouri fashion, it did, and it was cold. I hate to admit it, but I was not a happy camper. Barron tried to cheer me up by reminding me that it was warmer than when we come at Christmas-time. I informed him that while that was a true statement, I try to dress warmer in the winter. Ugh.
So we get there and head straight down the hill to get into the 2pm show. And wouldn't you know, the line is already down to the pork rind stand (which is a long way down for those of you not familiar with The City). I was again discouraged that we wouldn't get to see the show and have to stand in the cold rain until the 4 o'clock show or just leave without seeing it at all. Annoying. We inched closer to the front and finally we are standing at the cut-off spot, praying they will take just a couple more in. Praise the Lord, they did, and we were able to see the show! It sounds so silly now, but I can't tell you how much better my mood got once I was in a dry, warm place. Ahhhh.
After the show were were supposed to meet my dad at the candy shop, so we headed up the middle of the park that direction. But of course we had to pass the bakery on the way and wow, it smelled amazing, so we went in. They had just taken some Cinnamon Loafs out of the oven so I talked my sweet husband into getting one. Here is a pic of our cinnamon loaf ecstasy. (And yes, we did save a piece for Dad.)
And last but not least, Barron at the taffy shop. (The "candy" shop my dad was referring to, although it was the incorrect term. The candy shop is by the funnel cakes, dad. Duh.)

Mmmmm...the cinnamon loaf is one of my favorites. We always have to stop on our way out of SDC for the day as our reward for hiking up all those hills! Glad you had a good time.
